Cotignac
It is a picturesque village in the heart of Provence, and holds a special place in our hearts. Whenever we have the opportunity to visit houses in or near Cotignac, we like to plan extra time to enjoy the unique charm of this village.
A day at the market
Every Tuesday, Cotignac transforms into a lively hub of activity thanks to its weekly market. From 8 a.m., the streets fill with stalls offering a range of local products, from fresh fruit and vegetables to artisan cheeses and fragrances. The market lasts until around 12.30 p.m., so it is advisable to arrive early to get the best products.
Culinary delights in the square
After a morning at the market, there is nothing better than settling down at one of the terraces in the central square, under the shade of imposing plane trees. One of our favourite spots is Café du Cours, where we regularly enjoy a delicious lunch or just a refreshing drink.
Historical charm and breathtaking nature
The narrow streets of Cotignac, lined with colourful old buildings, invite you to wander. The village lies at the foot of impressive rock formations, creating a dramatic and unique landscape. These cliffs are home to ancient cave dwellings that bear witness to a rich past and are well worth a visit.
Vineyards and wine tastings
The area around Cotignac is dotted with extensive vineyards. We recommend Château Carpe Diem, a 14-hectare wine estate that produces delicious wines. They offer tours and tastings for those who want to experience Provençal wine culture.
Activities in the area
For the adventurous visitor, there are plenty of activities in and around Cotignac. From walking and cycling routes through the picturesque countryside to cultural events and festivals that are regularly held in the village. There is always something for everyone to enjoy.
Conclusion
Cotignac is more than just a village; it is an experience that stimulates all your senses. Whether you are strolling through the historic streets, enjoying local delicacies at the market, or relaxing with a glass of wine amidst the vineyards, Cotignac offers an authentic and unforgettable Provençal experience.
